Day 3 was meant to be the day we reached Delhi, but as with all great journeys, plans often change. After the grueling challenges of Day 2, we set off with high hopes, aiming for Delhi, but the road—and our bodies—had other plans. Here’s how the day unfolded.

A Humid Start and Sweaty Ride

We started the day early, kicking off around 8:30 AM, determined to make up for lost time. The rain from the past few days was finally behind us, and the skies were clear. However, the weather wasn’t doing us any favors. The humidity was oppressive, and despite the overcast sky, the air was thick and heavy, making us sweat through our riding gear within the first hour.

The heat was exhausting, and we found ourselves stopping more often to hydrate and catch our breath. Every stop felt like a necessary relief from the sweltering conditions.

First Photoshoot of the Trip

After days of relentless rain, we finally had a chance to stop for a proper photoshoot. The scenery was gorgeous, with open roads and clear skies—perfect for capturing some memorable shots. We took time to get some great snaps of the bikes, the group, and the wide-open highway. After all, documenting the journey is part of the adventure!

Smooth Highways and Hazardous Roads

Once back on the road, we found ourselves cruising at a good pace thanks to the well-maintained highways. The clear weather and smooth roads allowed us to cover a lot of ground quickly, but the ride wasn’t without its hazards. Throughout the journey, we had to slow down in certain patches due to unexpected herds of cows wandering across the highway. Each time we encountered a group, we had to cautiously navigate through them, adding an element of danger to an otherwise smooth ride.

Lunch in Udaipur and Fatigue Setting In

By midday, we reached Udaipur, where we took a break for lunch. The heat and humidity were starting to take their toll on us, and we were all feeling the weight of the long ride. We sat down to a simple meal, hoping to re-energize ourselves for the road ahead, but the fatigue was becoming harder to ignore.

Originally, we had planned to push all the way to Delhi by nightfall, but as the day wore on, it became clear that our bodies were demanding rest. The heat, the sweat, and the exhaustion had all taken a toll, and we knew we needed to adjust our plan.

Changing Course to Jaipur

Recognizing that reaching Delhi wasn’t realistic for the day, we made a collective decision to adjust our destination and aim for Jaipur instead. It was a necessary compromise, giving us a chance to rest while still making significant progress on the trip.

We pressed on, with the roads growing more scenic as the day went on. Long stretches of highway cut through picturesque landscapes, but every mile felt harder as fatigue continued to set in. The mental and physical strain of three long days on the road was becoming more apparent with each turn of the throttle.

Arriving in Jaipur, Exhausted but Relieved

By 9:30 PM, we finally rolled into Jaipur, completely exhausted from the ride. It had been another long day, but we were relieved to have reached our destination, even if it wasn’t the one we had originally aimed for. Too tired to explore, we ordered dinner to our rooms and ate in quiet reflection of the day’s journey.

Plans for Tomorrow

During dinner, Vishal and Vrushab made the decision to head for Delhi early the next morning to reunite with their family and friends. Meanwhile, Shankar and I opted to take a more relaxed pace, planning to set off around 9:30 AM for Chandigarh.

Though the day didn’t go exactly as planned, it was still filled with memorable moments—the first photoshoot, scenic highways, and the ever-present feeling of adventure. Now, with some much-needed rest, we’re ready for whatever tomorrow has in store as we get closer to the heart of the Spiti ride.
